About Me

Hello, my name is Adam Girard.

I am a recent graduate of Dominican University’s Graduate School of Library and Information Science. I am currently exploring career opportunities in academic and special libraries. Please feel free to contact me.

I have a wide range of experience working in academic and public libraries and archives. Previous experience teaching both graduate and undergraduate courses led me to focus my education on academic librarianship. Combining teaching with my knowledge of library science has been both exciting and rewarding. Teaching user instruction classes in an academic library has reaffirmed my love for promoting lifelong learning.

I am interested in library technology and the development of new and different ways to reach library users. I use Web 2.0 technology extensively. I am learning about the customization of public access catalogs in order to improve usability and successful searches.

The future of scholarly communications is an aspect of academic librarianship that holds great opportunity. Working on an open access peer reviewed journal led me to think about the future of scholarly communications and raised questions about all viable publishing models, the accessibility of information and the ownership of papers. This is a topic that I hope to work with more in the future.

Thank you for taking the time to view my page. Feel free to contact me to discuss my projects or any that you may be working on!
